Steve uses only traditional hand tools, many of which have been used by woodworkers for thousands of years. He uses locally-sourced unseasoned timber to preserve the individual character of the wood, meaning that each piece is unique. Rather than sanding in the usual way, he prefers to finish his work using finely-sharpened edge tools which give a more textured result.
All kitchenware is finished with natural food oils that can be washed-up in hot, soapy water and allowed to dry before putting away. Occasionally rubbing in a light coat of olive oil will help preserve the wood.
