Powdermills PotteryPowdermills Pottery is housed in granite buildings that were once part of a nineteenth century gunpowder factory. It is found in the very centre of Dartmoor National Park in Devon, and is part of the Duchy of Cornwall estate.
At Powdermills, as well as Joss Hibbs' pottery studio, there is a shop which sells our pots alongside a range of housewares hand-crafted by thirty Dartmoor craft-makers. Cream teas are served in the courtyard in the Summer season, and intensive throwing courses are run during Spring and Autumn.
You can visit us from the comfort of your armchair: if you would like to see Powdermills pots and the work of other craftsmen whose work we sell, you can browse through our on-line store; if you would like to see how the resident potter, Joss Hibbs, makes pots from materials found on Dartmoor using an 'anagama' kiln, please do view our short film found in The Pottery section.
A visit to Powdermills offers a glimpse of all the things Dartmoor has to offer: wild landscape and wildlife (especially birdlife); history and nearby walks to prehistoric sites; local food and time to relax.
